Bridgeland High School claimed first place in Class IV at the Battle at the Berry marching band competition in addition to winning all four performance awards and being named the year’s grand champion.
Oct. 23, 2024—The Bridgeland High School marching band was named the grand champion at the Battle at the Berry marching band competition, held Oct. 19 at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium.
The Battle at the Berry welcomed bands from across the Houston area competing in four different classifications based on marching band size.
Langham Creek High School placed second in Class II at the Battle at the Berry marching band competition on Oct. 19 at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium.
Bridgeland claimed first in its classification (Class IV) in addition to winning all four performance awards and being named this year’s grand champion.
“I’m incredibly proud of the CFISD marching bands for their outstanding performances at the Battle of the Berry contest,” said Joe Glass, CFISD coordinator of secondary music. “Their dedication, talent and teamwork truly shined, showcasing the spirit and excellence of our community.”
Cypress Springs High School placed third in Class II at the Battle at the Berry marching band competition on Oct. 19 at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium.
Results from the 2024 Battle at the Berry are as follows:
Classification I:
· First place - Spring Woods High School;
· Second place - Elsik High School; and
· Third place - Memorial High School.
Classification II:
· First place – Klein High School;
· Second place – Langham Creek High School; and
· Third place – Cypress Springs High School.
Classification III:
· First place – Jordan High School;
· Second place - James E. Taylor High School; and
· Third place - William B. Travis High School.
Classification IV:
· First place – Bridgeland High School;
· Second place – Katy High School; and
· Third place – Paetow High School.
Performance awards:
· Outstanding musical performance – Bridgeland;
· Outstanding visual performance – Bridgeland;
· Outstanding auxiliary and color guard – Bridgeland; and
· Outstanding percussion – Bridgeland.
All 12 CFISD High School marching bands will compete in the UIL Region 27 Marching Contest on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased online through the CFISD Fine Arts page.
